Comprehensive schools for everybody (academic, technical and vocational) appeared in 1960s, 1970s.
National curriculum appeared in 1980s.
Core subjects : mathematics (numeracy), english (literacy), Sciences.
Optional subjects : humanities (history, geography), Art-drama-music, Physical Education, ICT-technology, Religions, PSHE (personal social health education)
2010 : foreign language began compulsory, but it doesn’t have to be a european language.

Age : 4 to 7 : infant school
Age 7 to 11 : junior school
Age 11 to 16 : secondary school
Exams : 5 GCSE (academic) / NVQ (practical)
Age 16 to 18 : College
Exams : 4 A levels (academic) / B tec (in between) / NVQ (practical)
